HuliHealth presents at Echelon Taipei!
A couple of weeks ago, HuliHealth was fortunate enough to participate at Echelon 2012, a showcase for Asia's best startups. Stopping off in Taipei, the entrepreneurship blog e27 had also visited five other cities in the region with the goal of finding Asia's 50 most promising start-ups which would then be invited to exhibit in Singapore in June. Duly honoured, I was dispatched to the Taipei satellite event and instructed to amp up the charm, and the British accent, in the hopes that HuliHealth would be selected for the top-50!
Taiwan's entrepreneurship community came out in force, with several hundred in attendance. Set up in a Pop Idol style format, the fourteen assembled start-ups were each given five minutes to deliver their pitch, and then had to withstand a further five minutes of Q&A from the panel of assembled judges.
Palms sweating, I stepped up to the stage. Apart from a small hitch where I betrayed my lack of KTV skills (note to self: you have to hold the microphone really close to your face for it to work, and you can't just wave it around!) I think I gave a good account of ourselves, and certainly enjoyed the Q&A and discussion that followed.
It was also heartening to meet and talk with Taiwanese entrepreneurs working across a range of different fields. As many have commented, the past year has seen significant steps forward in the development of a Taiwanese start-up ecosystem, and as the start-ups presenting showed, these efforts are starting to bear fruit. At HuliHealth, we look forward to contributing and being part of this continuing growth!
We thank TMI for helping to co-host and help organise and set up the event and post-event festivities, Jeremy Brand Yuan for his inimitable MC charm and of course to e27 for making it over to Taiwan, whom we hope to see again soon!
STOP PRESS: HuliHealth was selected for Echelon's Top-50! Woot woot!
